71 School Students Preview Carnegie Mellon Programmes

Doha, July 22 (QNA) - Seventy-one school students went through Carnegie Mellon University's (CMU-Q) Eighth Summer College Preview Programme (SCPP) held on its campus, the university said Tuesday. The four-week programme bridges the gap between high school and university, introducing students to college level classes and preparing them for the college admissions process, CMU-Q said. The event introduces students to the programmes offered at Carnegie Mellon Qatar; biological sciences, business administration, computational biology, computer science and information systems. Students experience the majors CMU-Q offers through lab-based courses that give students hands on experience of these disciplines. They are exposed to university-level math including differential calculus academic writing, and an array of personal and professional developmental workshops to improve their competitiveness on college applications. This year students are being taught by 14 professors, handpicked from leading high schools and universities across the world, CMU-Q said. (QNA)
