81 Thais arrive home from Egypt

BANGKOK, Aug 25 (TNA) - A total of 81 Thais arrived home from violence-prone Egypt on Sunday, making them the fifth group to have returned to their motherland. They arrived at Suvarnabhumi Airport aboard a Singapore Airlines flight and were welcomed upon arrival by several senior government officials including Natthawut Pothisaro, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, and Airports of Thailand Public Company Ltd. Vice Chairman Pongsak Semson. Officials had helped the evacuated Thais by sending them to their native provinces so that they could join with their family members. As the situation in Egypt remains uncertainty along with the imposition of curfew, Mr. Natthawut said some 180 Thais in Egypt have already registered themselves and wished to return home. He said the Foreign Affairs Ministry will arrange for commercial airliners in bringing them home soon. (TNA)
