90 kgs of compressed marijuana seized in Nakhon Phanom

NAKHON PHANOM, Oct 9 (TNA) - The Mekhong Riverine Unit (MRU) seized 90 kilogrammes of compressed marijuana while patrolling along the Mekong River in Nakhon Phanom province bordering Laos. MRU officials said drug smugglers used a long-tailed boat to carry the sacks,containing compressed marijuana. The drug traffickers threw three sacks from the boat to the riverbank in the area, connecting Nakhon Phanom and Bung Kan provinces. They could manage to escape when confronting with officials. MRU officials said they would increase patrolling in the river because drug traffickers normally smuggle illicit goods during the end of the Buddhist Lent when the annual illuminated boat festival is to be held.
