95 Compounds Issued To MCO Offenders Wednesday - Senior Minister

PUTRAJAYA, April 9 (Bernama) -- Ninety five compound notices were issued by the police to individuals who violated the Movement Control Order (MCO) as at Wednesday,” said Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Ismail Sabri Yaakob. He said the violators who were issued the compounds would have to pay RM1,000 each at the district health office or nearest police station. "They are given two weeks to pay up,” he told the daily media conference on MCO here Thursday. Earlier, police announced compounds would be issued to MCO offenders starting Wednesday under their stipulated standard operating procedure (SOP). Ismail Sabri said those who failed to pay their compounds within the period would be brought to court. Meanwhile, he said the meeting Thursday agreed with an application by the Road Transport Department (JPJ) to assist police and the armed forces in conducting roadblocks nationwide. He said there are 769 roadblocks throughout the country, involving the inspection of 433,988 vehicles. Ismail Sabri said police also detained 300 individuals at roadblocks and police patrols for violating MCO Wednesday, which was a 34 per cent drop compared to 454 offenders nabbed the day before. He said the level of MCO compliance so far is at 97 per cent. Ismail Sabri also announced that 518 individuals were charged in court yesterday and the cumulative total arrest for not complying with MCO from March 18 to April 8 was 7,205 individuals. On the increase in traffic on the road in the past few days, he hoped it is temporary as many people are visiting banks to withdraw Bantuan Prihatin Nasional (BPN ) aid. “I hope they observe social distancing even when queuing up to withdraw money...we will discuss with police to monitor areas which are crowded simultaneously,” he said. In this regard, on the decontamination operation carried out by the Housing and Local Government Ministry (KPKT) since March 30, he said 954 sanitation operations in 81 zones including 23 red zones and 16 orange zones had been conducted so far. -- BERNAMA
