9th Meeting of Technical Committee of Intellectual Property Begins with Qatar's Participation

Cairo, February 16 (QNA) - The 9th meeting of the Technical Committee for Intellectual Property at the Arab League began Wednesday at the Headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Arab League. The State of Qatar is participating in the meeting with a delegation from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. The General Secretariat of the Arab League praised the efforts of intellectual property offices in the Arab states, and for the activities that took place mostly, appreciating all efforts to promote the intellectual property offices in the region, as they sought to move forward in establishing awareness of intellectual property rights despite all the challenges the world is going through due to the COVID-19 pandemic crisis. Speaking at the opening of the meeting, Minister Plenipotentiary Dr. Maha Bakheet, the Director of Intellectual Property and Competitiveness Department at the Arab League, said that the two-day meeting discusses the recommendations of the eighth meeting of the Technical Committee for Intellectual Property held in September 2021. She added that the follow-up to the implementation of the recommendations of the subcommittees (The Subcommittee on Industrial Property, The Standing Committee on Copyright and Related Rights (SCCR) ) was at the top of the agenda of the meeting. The mechanism for implementing the preparation of specific statistics and indicators of the reality of industrial property, copyright and related rights in Arab countries will also be discussed to develop a vision. The Technical Committee for Intellectual Property consists of government officials from intellectual property offices in the Arab countries (industrial property offices, copyright offices and related rights ) and it is responsible for establishing the rules for joint Arab action in the field of intellectual property.
