Abe Cheers Up Japanese Volunteers in Mozambique

Maputo, Mozambique, Jan. 12 (Jiji Press)--Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe cheered up 36 young volunteer workers dispatched from Japan to Mozambique, during his visit to the southeast African nation on Sunday. "Your efforts have helped boost trust in and create friendly feelings toward Japan (among people in Mozambique)," Abe told the volunteers working under the Japanese government's Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers program. "You are a bridge between the two countries and treasure in Japan's diplomacy," he added. The Japanese volunteers are teaching beekeeping in farming villages or gymnastic exercises and music to students. At a meeting with Mozambican President Armando Guebuza earlier on Sunday, Abe said that the Japanese government plans to send more young volunteers to the African country under the JOCV program. END
