Abe Wants to Learn from Sweden on Ways to Empower Women

Tokyo, Sept. 8 (Jiji Press)--Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said on Tuesday that he is willing to learn from Sweden on ways to promote women's role in society. Boosting women's participation in society is one of Japan's key economic policies, Abe said in a meeting with Urban Ahlin, speaker of the Swedish parliament, at the prime minister's office in Tokyo. Abe made the comments after Ahlin said that Sweden is promoting women's participation in society while maintaining the birthrate. Ahlin also said Sweden hopes to cooperate with Japan in introducing high-speed rail technology and promoting renewable energy sources. Ahlin invited Abe to visit Sweden. END
