About 30 countries confirm their participation in Damascus International Fair - diplomat

MOSCOW, August 1. /TASS/. Nearly 30 countries have confirmed their participation in the Damascus International Fair scheduled to be held in late August and early September, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told reporters at a press briefing on Thursday. "About 30 countries have already confirmed their participation in the 61st annual Damascus International Fair scheduled to be held in late August and early September," she said. Zakharova noted that the fair played an important role in supporting national economy and attracting additional investment to the country. "Trade and economic ties are intensifying, the country is gradually emerging from isolation," the diplomat noted. She added that, despite objective economic difficulties, the Syrian government continues to implement a large-scale program to establish a civilian life and repatriate Syrians. Syria’s Local Administration Minister Hussein Makhlouf earlier said that fair would be held from late August to early September 2019. Preparations for it are underway. Read more
