About 560,000 bus passengers return home

BANGKOK, April 12 (TNA) - Approximately 560,000 passengers had travelled by buses operated by state-run Transport Co., Ltd. to celebrate Songkran festival with their relatives in the upcountry during the past three days, said Nopparat Karunyavanich, acting managing director of the company, on Sunday. On Saturday alone, a total of 204,823 passengers travelled by the company’s buses, some 10,000 passengers higher than projected, he said. Most passengers travelled from the capital to the northeastern and northern routes, Mr. Nopparat said, adding that no passengers were left stranded at Bangkok’s Bus Terminal at Mo Chit 2 so far. People nationwide are now celebrating a five-day long holidays celebrating Songkran festival or Thailand’s traditional New Year. (TNA)
