Agencies condemned for exclusive interviews with young 'Wild Boar' footballers

BANGKOK, July 20 (TNA) -- Tawatchai Thaikyo, deputy permanent secretary of the Justice Ministry, has blamed international news organisations for lacking common senses and responsibility in their exclusive interviews with young members of the Wild Boars football team in Chiang Rai province. Some of their questions, especially those concerning the use of sedatives before the extraction of trapped people, could cause recalls of the situation and repeatedly frighten the boys in the way that they could develop chronic depression in the future, Mr Tawatchai said. International news media violated an agreement made with the Thai government that asked them to give space to the boys and their families, he said. He appreciated Thai media for following the guideline. As international news agencies cited they received permission from the boys' parents, Mr Tawatchai said the parents might be unprepared. In courts' hearings, the young were well protected by psychiatrists and social workers, he said. He blamed international news agencies for lacking common sense and being irresponsible. (TNA)
