Ahmadinejad: Iran-Azerbaijani Scholars Must Have Close Ties

Baku, Oct 16, IRNA – President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad here Monday stressed need for broad and tight relations between Iranian and Azerbaijani prominent scholars aimed at promotion and strengthening of Islamic culture. Visiting President Ahmadinejad made the comments Monday in a meeting with the Leader of Baku Muslims AllahShukur Pashazadeh. Ahmadinejad added, “The two countries’ brotherly relations must expand and be strengthened comprehensively and in all possible fields.” He further reiterated, “In this respect the religious scholars of the two countries can play constructive and effective roles.” The president said, “Iran and Azerbaijan are still at the beginning of the way and the two nations need to work more than ever before aimed at facilitating their own advancement and promotion of our shared Islamic culture.” Ahmadinejad pointed out that the Satans have never been, and will never be pro peace and friendship between the brother nations, stressed the need for alertness and conciseness in confrontation with the plots hatched by the enemies, and reiterated, “We should not permit that a gap would be created between the two nations by taking advantage of the entire capacities and capabilities on both sides at the service of promoting friendship and brotherhood.” The Iranian president said that the progress and advancement of Azerbaijan Republic would be to the benefit of the Islamic Republic of Iran, reiterating, “Iran and Azerbaijan cannot be separated from each other even for a single moment!” Ahmadinejad added, “The frequenting and communications between the prominent scholars of the two countries must be expanded more than ever before so that the ill wishers would not be able to create doubts, or problems resorting to lies and fabrications.” The Leader of Baku Muslims and Head of the Caucasus Muslims Administration AllahShukur Pashazadeh, too, appreciating the efforts made by the Islamic Republic of Iran aimed at broadening and promoting the Islamic culture and teachings, considered the frequenting of Iranian and Azerbaijani officials between two countries’ capitals as a factor at the service of strengthening bilateral ties more than ever before. Pashazadeh was also agreed with Ahmadinejad on the point that comprehensive expansion of relations and cooperation between the two nations, particularly in cultural field, was a dire need of the day./end
