Ahmadinejad: UN founded on injustice, hegemony

Tehran, Aug 31, IRNA – President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Friday that the UN structure is founded on the basis of continued injustice and hegemony. In a meeting with First Vice-President of Cuba José Ramón Machado Ventura, President Ahmadinejad said the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) has been established on the basis of respecting nations’ rights and justice and all members should through coordination and cooperation try to build structures and institutions in the Movement that would further activate it. NAM is based on justice, affection and friendship of nations and is hence accepted by all nations, added the President. The UN was founded by those who wished to continue with their hegemonic measures through political and international mechanisms as they did so through military means in the past, said the President, adding that the UN organization was for continued tyranny and injustice worldwide. He referred to the status and history of Cuba and the role of NAM, saying Iran and Cuba have been brothers to each other, being capable of taking effective measures for promotion of bilateral and international relations. Ventura for his part said Iran’s NAM presidency is source of hope for nations. The opportunity should be used for expansion of Iran-Cuba relations, he added.
