Air Crash Victims' Kins Given Psychological Assistance

By Ahmad Fuad Yahya JAKARTA, May 23 (Bernama) -- Immediate family members of victims of the Sukhoi Superjet 100 crash were provided with psychological assistance before seeing the remains in 45 coffins at the Police Hospital in Keramat Jati here Tuesday. Twelve psychologists, who aided them, advised close family members against seeing the remains to avoid a traumatic experience which could affect their sleep and appetite, said psychologist Mira Rumeser. Only three persons from a family were allowed to see the remains for 10 minutes from 1pm till 8pm Tuesday. They were, however, evaluated on their psychological strength before being allowed to see the remains. The remains will later be taken to Halim Perdanakusuma airport Wednesday before they are handed over to family members for burial. All 45 people on board the Superjet 100 were killed when the plane slammed into a steep side of Mount Salak near Jakarta shortly after take-off on a demonstration flight May 9. -- BERNAMA
