Al Qasba to ring out the year with spectacular Street Fiesta

Sharjah: The walkways of Sharjah's Al Qasba are all set to erupt in an explosion of fun and entertainment this month as the premier leisure destination prepares to host the spectacular Al Qasba Street Fiesta, 2013. Taking place from the 19th to the 30th of December, the Fiesta will be an extravaganza of street performance art and loads of fun activities for all ages, featuring top live performers from all over the world. Speaking about the upcoming fiesta, Sultan Shattaf, Al Qasba Manager, said, "2013 has been both a busy and very successful year for Al Qasba and now, as the year draws to a close, we are looking forward to celebrating these successes with twelve days of wonderful entertainment for all of our valued visitors. We have lined-up a truly special selection of street performance acts for this festival, and we invite everyone to come and join in the fun at their favourite leisure destination." Shattaf went on to comment that great care had been taken to ensure that the entertainment and activities would appeal to a wide range of people, saying, "We have chosen performers that have wowed audiences across the globe, acts that can be enjoyed by children, teens, and adults alike. Al Qasba takes great pride in its family-friendly ethos and we will continue to endeavour to provide excellent events that can be enjoyed by all." Al Qasba Street Fiesta will feature acts by performers from as far afield as Canada, Australia, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and Italy and visitors can look forward to some truly unique theatrical performances, including the side-splitting antics of the comic daredevil Ernest the Magnifico, the astounding acrobatics of Great Cate, Shandy South's slick, sophisticated fusion of street dance, mime and improvisational stand up, Otto il Bassotto's balloon inspired clowning, and the hypnotic rhythms of South Africa's Marimba Vibrations. Each performance is set to be around 40 minutes long and the acts will start daily at 5:00 pm, with the exception being on the Saturday's when the first show will be at 4:10pm. The kids will also have plenty to do, with a range of fun activities to choose from at the Kids Circus Workshop, including rolla bola, walking globe, tightwire, diabolo, juggling, face painting, and a balloon cart. In addition, visitors will also have the chance to see beautiful works of graffiti created live between the hours of 6:00 pm and 10:00 pm from the 26th until the 28th of December in front of Al Qasba's Block D.
