Al-Raya: Qatar Continues Strategic Plans towards Knowledge Economy Based on Comprehensive Development

Doha, February 20 (QNA) - Qatari newspaper Al-Raya underlined Saturday that the State of Qatar continues its national strategic plans to transform into a knowledge economy based on comprehensive development. In its editorial, Al-Raya said that the State of Qatar has made qualitative leaps in building and developing the information and communication technology sector and the digital transformation, as well as supporting and encouraging innovation and entrepreneurship. Al-Raya highlighted the Second National Development Strategy (2018-2022) which clearly identifies the need to focus on knowledge and innovation as one of the most important factors in achieving economic diversification. Meanwhile, Qatar National Artificial Intelligence Strategy is based on six pillars: education, access to data, employment, business, research and ethics. The strategy aims to produce world-class AI applications in areas of interest at the national level, and to have business environment that enables AI as a driver of innovation, the paper added. Al-Raya indicated that Qatar's leading position in the Digital Accessibility Rights Evaluation (DARE) Index for 2022 issued by the Global Initiative for Inclusive Information and Communication Technologies, affirmed its global excellence in providing information technology to its people, and its tireless endeavors to build a knowledge economy based on digital empowerment, through the optimal use of the technological infrastructure to achieve sustainable development and develop the business environment and economy.
