Al-Sharq, Al-Raya Hail Libyan Praise for Qatar's Role in Supporting Legitimacy

Doha, August 23 (QNA) - Qatari dailies Al-Sharq and Al-Raya highlighted the Presidential Council of the Libyan Government of National Accord's (GNA) praise for the role of the State of Qatar in supporting the legitimate government and the Libyan people during the current crises. In this regard, the papers said that the State of Qatar has always sought to stabilize this brotherly country, end the war that has spanned for nearly a decade and achieve a complete peace and security there. The newspapers also noted the State of Qatar's permanent support for all efforts exerted to reach a lasting political solution to the Libyan crisis through comprehensive dialogue and national reconciliation that preserves respect for Libya's sovereignty, territorial integrity, stability and security. In its editorial on Sunday, Al-Sharq stressed on the importance of the political process, constructive dialogue between the Libyan factions, the rejection of violence, the fight against terrorism, the enforcement of justice and equality among the Libyan people and the conduct of elections aimed at reaching a stable and permanent political stage, in accordance with constitutional rules agreed upon by the Libyans. The newspaper pointed out that during the past years, Qatar's stances were firm and consistent in supporting the Libyan brothers at all levels, with the aim of restoring cohesion between them and stopping the Libyan bloodshed, adding that these stances were appreciated by Libya and the international community, especially the United Nations, whose its Secretary-General welcomed the agreement between the Presidential Council of the Government of National Accord (GNA) and the Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives on an immediate ceasefire. In conclusion, Al-Sharq said that the positive role of the State of Qatar was completely impartial, as Doha focused on upholding the interest of the Libyan people. For its part, Al-Raya newspaper praised in its editorial on Sunday the State of Qatar's support for all efforts made to reach a permanent political solution to the Libyan crisis through comprehensive dialogue and national reconciliation. The daily newspaper noted the Presidential Council of the Libyan Government of National Accord's appreciation toward the State of Qatar and Turkey's roles in supporting the legitimate government and the Libyan people during the current crisis, which stems from their clear positions in support of the cause of the Libyan people. The support from Qatar and Turkey stems from clear and principled positions in considering the Government of National Accord (GNA) as the only legitimate one in Libya, Al-Raya underlined, adding that Qatar and Turkey's clear positions are in the interest of the brotherly Libyan people because they rejected the ambivalence of countries that support the illegal forces in Libya as they are undermining the legitimacy of the internationally recognized reconciliation government. Al-Raya explained that it's not surprising that the Presidential Council of the Libyan Government of National Accord praised Qatar and Turkey's positions and confirmed that they have supported its position and the Libyan people during the current crisis because both of them have taken a firm stance in support of the achievement of peace and stability in Libya. The praise for Qatar and Turkey confirms both countries' consistent and clear positions, as well as their unlimited support for peace and stability in Libya, especially in recent years where the two countries have made great efforts to support the Libyan people to reach stability and end conflict, the newspaper said. The paper noted that the Presidential Council's assertion that the modern civil state is an irreversible option, and the hardening of its steadfast stance rejecting the militarization of the state, stems from its eagerness to fulfill the blood of the martyrs and in response to the demand of the Libyans, and to preserve the security, unity and sovereignty of Libya. Therefore, there was also an emphasis on the importance of resuming the political process on clear grounds, so that there is no place for those whose hands were stained with the blood of Libyans, and whoever committed violations that amount to war crimes and crimes against humanity, and does not waive the application of justice against them, the paper added. Al-Raya concluded its editorial by saying that the State of Qatar welcomed the agreement announced by the President of the Presidential Council of the Government of National Accord and the Speaker of the Tobruk Parliament, expressing great hopes that this agreement will contribute to supporting efforts for a political solution in Libya and rebuilding the state in a way that preserves the rights of the Libyan people and the rule of law.
