Al-Sharq Calls on International Community to Fulfill its Responsibilities towards Restoring Peace Process in Palestine

Doha, November 12 (QNA) - Al-Sharq newspaper called, in its Thursday editorial, on the international community to intervene and fulfill its responsibilities towards returning the peace process to its track through credible negotiations based on international decisions to end the occupation and establish an independent state of Palestine on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital. The newspaper said that it is time to move from condemnation of violations and crimes to effective positions to confront Israel and its continued aggression, violations and occupation of the Palestinian and Arab lands. It noted the escalation of all forms of Israeli attacks on the Palestinian people daily, from suppression, raids, arrests, demolition of homes and establishments, systematic displacement and expulsion of landowners and attacks on Islamic and Christian sanctities with the continuation of the policy of Judaizing occupied Jerusalem, as well as the annexation plan in the West Bank and settlement. The Palestinians in Gaza Strip are facing extremely bad conditions as a result of the unjust blockade that has continued for many years. These conditions have deepened and worsened the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19 ). Tens of thousands of prisoners in occupation prisons suffer from various forms of torture and brutal treatment and the denial of the most basic rights, including health care, as patients face deliberate neglect, Al-Sharq added. Al-Sharq concluded its editorial by saying that despite all these conditions and violations against the Palestinian people, the international community continues to overlook Israel's practices and its record of crimes against the Palestinians. This encourages the occupation and its government to continue its brutal acts and violations and even escalate its attacks in the absence of any kind of international accountability.(QNA)
