Al-Sharq Condemns Violence and Bombings in Afghanistan

Doha, February 14 (QNA) - Al-Sharq newspaper condemned in its editorial Sunday the escalation of violence and bombings in Afghanistan during the recent period, which confirms once again the importance and urgent need to reach a real, comprehensive and sustainable peace that fulfills the aspirations of the Afghan people for peace, security, stability and development. The State of Qatar has always expressed its firm position on rejecting violence and terrorism, whatever the motives and causes, the paper said, referring to Qatar's condemnation and denunciation of the attacks and bombings that target civilians. Within the framework of its foreign policy principles that call for peaceful solutions to crises, Qatar spares no effort to provide all necessary support for any effort to facilitate dialogue and negotiation between the conflicting parties, the paper underlined, adding that in this context, Qatar was and remains a reliable mediator and partner in supporting the peace-making process in Afghanistan through the intra-Afghan negotiations, which are hosted in Doha. The newspaper expressed its regret over the 40-year-old war that wiped out everything in Afghanistan and resulted in great suffering for the Afghan people and held all Afghan parties responsibility for achieving a comprehensive and lasting peace that ends the suffering of the Afghan people, the newspaper noted. Al-Sharq concluded by saying that the Afghan people deserve to have a better future and to see a permanent end to the bloodshed in the country. (QNA)
