Al-Sharq Highlights Doha Declaration Achievements to Support Sustainable Development

Doha, July 14 (QNA) - Al-Sharq newspaper highlighted in its editorial on Tuesday the Doha Declaration, issued by the Thirteenth United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice in 2015, to support the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development of the United Nations. Al-Sharq emphasized that it turned politics into action, and its ultimate goal was to strengthen the rule of law at the national and international levels. The newspaper pointed that one of the success factors of the program was that it was funded by Qatar, which is the largest funding provided by one country in the history of the United Nations Office. Al-Sharq emphasized that Qatar believes in global solidarity, working for prosperity and promoting world peace, and based on this insight, the global program to implement the Doha Declaration achieved many goals in order to establish balance between the three dimensions of sustainable development: the economic, the social and the environmental dimensions. Therefore, the global program has contributed to the implementation of all the goals of the sustainable development plan. The newspaper referred to the commitment of the State of Qatar to continue working with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime to build on the achievements of the global program to implement the Doha Declaration and continue to contribute to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development goals at all levels. Al-Sharq concluded by calling on other countries to work with a shared responsibility spirit and support the activities and programs of the Office to achieve goals of the aforementioned agenda for the sake of rule of law, justice, equality, tolerance, and openness.
