Al-Sharq Highlights Success of Qatar's Economic Policies

Doha, May 26 (QNA) - Qatari newspaper, Al-Sharq, said Saturday that the State of Qatar has begun to reap the fruits of its successful economic policies, outlined by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani in his opening address to the 46th session of the Advisory Council. Al-Sharq referred to HH the Amir's address to the 46th session of the Advisory Council in which HH stressed that the country's strategy for the national economy must be based on several things, including the completion of legislation and decrees to facilitate investment, reduce bureaucracy and develop the banking system in line with the major tasks it faces in the new phase of building the economy and the state. The Qatari daily highlighted the important legislations which have been completed, the last of which was the draft law regulating non-Qatari capital in economic activity, which was approved by the Cabinet on 24/5/2018. Thanks to the new draft law, the State of Qatar would become a destination of foreign investment, referring to the assertion of HE Minister of Economy and Commerce Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al-Thani that the new draft law will open the field for foreign investment to have 100% ownership in all sectors, supports foreign investors' entry to the Qatari market through the provision of several incentives, most notably the allocation of land for non-Qatari investors to establish their investment projects, Al-Sharq said. After a year of blockade, Qatar became an attractive destination for foreign investment, thanks to its well-considered economic policies which contributed to providing a promising investment environment that is supported by an encouraging legislative and administrative system for doing business, reflecting the advanced status of a country that plans its projects carefully and looks towards the future, Al-Sharq concluded.
