Al-Sharq Highlights US Announcement on Readiness to Hold Talks with Iran

Doha, February 20 (QNA) - Qatari newspaper Al-Sharq highlighted in its editorial Saturday the announcement of the United States on its readiness to hold talks with Iran to discuss a return to the 2015 nuclear deal from which former president Donald Trump withdrew in 2018, and its intention to reverse the Trump administration’s determination to reimpose all UN sanctions against Iran. Al-Sharq said that the announcement marks the beginning of a return to the diplomatic action and a buildable step forward to avoid escalation and achieve regional and international stability. The paper noted that the State of Qatar, stemming from the firm principles of its foreign policy that are based on settling disputes through dialogue, has always called for establishing an effective framework for collective security in the region, and for a dialogue based on common interests in order to overcome the state of tension and achieve peace and prosperity.
