Al-Sharq: Qatar and China...Consensus in Vision, Evolving Partnership

Doha, February 21 (QNA) - In its editorial Sunday, Al-Sharq newspaper highlighted the depth of the strategic bilateral relations between the State of Qatar and the People's Republic of China, stressing the interest and keenness of both countries to enhance and advance them to broader horizons. The paper referred to the message received by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani from HE Chinese President Xi Jinping, which was conveyed by member of the Political Bureau and Director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Yang Jiechi, when HH the Amir met him at his office on Saturday. After 32 years of relations between the State of Qatar and the People's Republic of China, the distinguished and advanced relations between the two friendly countries are in their best stages ever, thanks to the great concern HH the Amir and his brother the Chinese President attach to these relations, Al-Sharq said. The cooperation between Qatar and China includes many areas, foremost of which is the field of energy, which is the cornerstone of the strategic relations between the two countries, as Qatar is the largest exporter of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in the world and China is the largest consumer. The two countries agree on many international and regional issues, the paper said, pointing out that China appreciates the State of Qatar's positions in support of peace and stability, and that Qatar is considered one of the important partners of China's Silk Road initiative. Al-Sharq concluded by saying that the visits and exchanged messages between officials contributed to enhancing ties between the two countries, noting HH the Amir's visit to China in 2019, which constituted the biggest shift in the path of relations and represented a fundamental turning point in strengthening the strategic partnership.
