Al-Sharq: Siege Countries Continue to Flounder

Doha, July 11 (QNA) - Qatari daily Al-Sharq affirmed in its editorial Wednesday that the inhumane practices committed by the siege countries against Qatari citizens, including kidnapping them in Saudi territory, give the International Court of Justice (ICJ) unequivocal evidence of their insistence on coercive and discriminatory measures against Qataris. The papers said that more than 2,500 abuses against Qataris have been documented by the reports of the technical mission of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR). The newspaper pointed out that the siege countries proved to be floundered day after day as they will be held accountable for their actions soon before the International Court of Justice. The daily added that the countries of the siege have been abusing and spreading hatred against Qatari citizens for more than a year and that the practices of expulsion, detention, suspension and restriction of freedoms, as well as the continuous distortion through media for everything that is Qatari did not stop. If the UAE is racing against time to escape its responsibility for its discriminatory measures against Qatari citizens on its territory since June 5, 2017, the hollow statements it is now issuing will not absolve it of this responsibility, the paper said. It also affirmed that Saudi Arabia's abductions of Qatari citizens in its territory give the Qatari prosecution a wild card before the International Court of Justice in The Hague. The UAE and Saudi Arabia's signing on the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination will not exempt them from the crime of persecuting Qataris and violating the Charter of the United Nations, Al-Sharq concluded.
