Al-Watan Highlights US Call for Constructive Dialogue to Resolve the Gulf Crisis

Doha, May 16 (QNA) - Qatari newspaper, Al-Watan, said Wednesday that the US call on the siege countries to engage in a constructive dialogue in order to resolve the Gulf crisis is fully consistent with Qatar's sound vision, directed by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani since the outbreak of the crisis. Al-Watan underlined that the US constant emphasis on the importance of resolving the Gulf crisis and ending the unjust siege on Qatar was supported once again by the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, based on the US President Donald Trump's desire to "see the Gulf dispute eased and eventually resolved". The Qatari daily highlighted Pompeo's hope that all parties to the Gulf dispute will engage constructively ahead of the US-GCC Summit, a call that has been renewed by Qatar in all occasions and forums, affirming that the Gulf crisis can be resolved only through a constructive dialogue that preserves the sovereignty and security of states. Al-Watan underlined that the unjust siege imposed on Qatar has had serious consequences for security and stability in the region, and the siege countries are fully responsible for the continued tensions in the region. The State of Qatar has always called for a strategic dialogue to agree on common security principles in order to resolve the disputes and restore the lost leading role of the GCC, Al-Watan concluded.
