Alba marks World Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Manama, Oct. 13 (BNA): Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C. (Alba), a leading aluminium smelter that champions workplace safety and health, marked World Breast Cancer Awareness Month with employee-centric activities for employees and their families. Alba’s Health Care Centre in coordination with Alba Labour Union held separate breast cancer awareness sessions for the Company’s female and male employees at the Alba Labour Union Hall. The session for women was extended to all female relatives and friends of employees and included a free physical examination. Alba held a ‘Think Pink’ walk on Thursday, October 08 at Alba’s Oasis area where employees across the Company participated to demonstrate their support towards breast cancer awareness. Also, female employees were gifted with pink bracelets to mark the occasion as well as free medical check-up cards at one of Bahrain’s leading hospitals. Speaking on the occasion, Alba’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Elham Al Eid said: "Breast cancer affects women and men of all ages. Early detection and regular examinations are key factors that influence the possibility of complete recovery from this disease. Alba is pleased to participate and support in this initiative to educate and generate awareness about this disease." Breast cancer awareness month is an international health campaign observed every October to increase awareness of the disease, advocate for breast cancer screenings and raise funds for its diagnosis, prevention and cure.
