Almost two mln meth pills found in Sai Mai district

BANGKOK, July 3 (TNA) – The officials found 1.8 million methamphetamine pills and 39 kilogrammes of crystal meth or ice during a joint police and military operation in the morning search in Bangkok’s Saimai district. About 100 officials scoured an abandoned area in Soi Saimai at 6 am. The search came after the arrest of drug traffickers with five million meth pills in their possession last week. After the interrogation, the police learnt that the 30 rai of land, covered with high grass and weed in Sai Mai district were used by the drug network to hide the illegal drug before distributing them to nearby areas in Bangkok and surrounding provinces. During the operation, the police also arrested a drug suspect, identified as Wanrob Narongsak, who confessed to keeping any eye on the police while the group moved illegal drug to hide there. The suspect also said about two million meth pills had been destroyed before the police came as they knew the police were tracking them. A trace of illegal drug burning was also found. According to the police investigation, this haul of illegal drugs belongs to drug kingpins of Wa ethnic minority group in the North of Thailand. The police are tracing the leaders of this drug trafficking ring. (TNA)
