Amnesty bill protests continued, Thai PM meet security authorities

BANGKOK, November 7 (TNA) - As protests against the government-backed amnesty bill have been continued in both Bangkok and provincial areas, Thai Prime Minister and Defence Minister Yingluck Shinawatra convened security authorities at Government House on Thursday morning to discuss the updated domestic political situation amid intensified security measures. Yingluck, who canceled her scheduled activities in the Thai East on Wednesday evening to return to the capital, followed up the demonstrations of various groups opposing the amnesty bill, as a protesting group has made a new movement. The protesting group, called itself the Network of Students and People for Reform of Thailand, has moved it supporters from Uruphong Intersection to Government House in the capital. Meanwhile, another group of anti-amnesty bill demonstrators, called themselves members of the Businessmen for Democracy Club, comprising mostly office employers and employees, rallied at Asoke skytrain station in Bangkok during their lunch time, after demonstrating in Silom area twice earlier this week, while a mass rally at the Democracy Monument on Rajadamnoen Avenue in the capital, led by the main opposition Democrat Party, has also been prolonged.
