AMS 2015: KL Calls Upon Broadcaster In Asia Pacific To Consolidate Strength

KUALA LUMPUR, May 28 (Bernama) -- The 12th Asia Media Summit (AMS) 2015's resolutions, among others has called upon broadcasters in the Asia-Pacific region to consolidate their strength in local and quality content. The 'Kuala Lumpur Statement on Broadcasting and Social Media' read by Communication and Multimedia Ministry secretary-general Dr Sharifah Zarah Syed Ahmad suggested broadcasters embrace the immediacy, mobility, interactivity and ubiquitous reach of social media, and contribute to the building of holistic civilisations. "We acknowledge that points of difference are essential in the social media world where audiences have huge choice and integrity of a broadcaster was agreed as a prime point difference. "We agree that understanding the community and the story to tell, is the most important and also knowing the data and having direct relationship with customers is key to surviving the new challenges," she said at the closing ceremony of AMS 2015 here Wednesday. The AMS 2015 themed, 'Transforming Broadcasting in the Social Media Era' was attended by 500 media practitioners from around the world, sharing their knowledge on broadcast journalism. Sharifah Zarah then handed over a document to Korea's Director Multilateral Cooperation Division, Ministry of Science ICT and Future Planning, Sanghun Lee as the next host of AMS next year. The event was witnessed by President of Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD) General Conference, Dra Rosarita Niken Widiastuti and AIBD Director Chang Jin. The next AMS will be held in Seoul, Korea from May 24-26, 2016. --BERNAMA
