Annual OTOP Village 2016 to be held in five provinces nationwide

BANGKOK, May 18 (TNA) -- Thailand's Community Development Department (CDD) is preparing to hold the annual OTOP Village 2016 under the theme, 'Power of Thai Wisdom', where quality and low price goods are expected to be sold in the five main provinces in each region. CDD director-general Apichart Todilokwet revealed that the CDD is set to hold this year's OTOP Village in five provinces, including Surin, Tak, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Kampaeng Phet, and Rayong, aiming to lift the quality of life of the local people, while also help to create more income for the area and stimulate the national economy. Mr Apichart said the event would help to push for the development of local products into the world market, as well as help to create opportunity for OTOP products to be exported, help to promote and publicise OTOP products to become well accepted among the private and public sectors at the regional and national levels. Mr Apichart said the first event is scheduled to kick off in Surin from May 25-31, followed by a second event in Tak from June 16-22, and Nakhong Si Thammarat from June 26-July 2, and the fourth event would be held in Kamapaeng Phet between June 30-July 6 and closing off this year's OTOP Village in Rayong on July 7-13.
