Anti-corruption function organised in Bangkok

BANGKOK, September 6 (TNA) - Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha inaugurated an anti-corruption function organised by the Anti-Corruption Organisation of Thailand (ACOT) on Saturday morning, as the ACOT has joined the new government in its fight against corruption. ACOT Chairman Pramon Suthiwong said in his address welcoming General Prayuth, who is also Army and National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) Chief, that the function was organised for the fourth consecutive year and General Prayuth is the first prime minister who came from the military to preside over the opening of the function. Pramon acknowledged General Prayugh's participation in the anti-corruption function confirmed that the government and the NCPO are prepared to suppress corruption in the country. As part of the function, a brainstorming session was set to be held on Saturday afternoon on finding a solution to corrutpion, during which participants are expected to discuss reforms on the election of members of the Parliament (MPs), as well as procurements by the public sector and approaches to fight against corruption. The ACOT chair stressed that cooperation between the public and private sectors are significant for corruption suppression and it is the duty of everybody to help abolish malpractices. (TNA)
