Anti Graft Commission Questions Former Minister Andi Mallarangeng

Jakarta, Oct 11 (Antara) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) here on Friday questioned former Youth and Sports Minister Andi Mallarangeng as a suspect in a graft case focusing on construction of a sports center in Bogor, West Java province. "I have no clue about what the accusation against me is. But as a good citizen, I will follow the existing procedure of the law. Regarding a possible arrest today, I am ready to face it," said the former high ranking member of the ruling Democrat party. The questioning session today is the first that has been conducted since the anti graft commission named Andi as a suspect in late December 2012. Andi had previously been questioned as a witness in the same case. Beginning last year, the KPK conducted an investigation into corruption linked to purchases for the Hambalang sports facilities in 2010-2011 allegedly committed by the suspect, Andi Alifian Mallarangeng, as sports minister, along with his friends, and pertaining to Article 2 paragraph 1 and Article 3 of Law Number 39 of 1999 on corruption. In the Hambalang case, the KPK has named three suspects, including Andi Mallarangeng in his capacity as user of the funds, former planning bureau chief of the ministry of youth and sports affairs Deddy Kusdinar for his role as planning officer for the Hambalang project, and former operations director 1 of PT Adhi Karya, Teuku Bagus Mukhamad Noor. The chief of the State Audit Board (BPK), Hadi Purnomo, said the state suffered losses of Rp246.6 billion in this case.
