Anti-human tracfficking campaign launched in Chiang Rai

CHIANG RAI, June 2 (TNA) - Chiang Rai Province launches a campaign event to raise the public awareness on human trafficking, particularly sex trafficking and illegal labor at the Thai-Lao border. The annual campaign is collaboration among social development office of Chiang Rai and 11 anti-human trafficking groups in Thailand and Laos. Deputy Governor of Chiang Rai Passakorn Boonyarak chaired the campaign opening at Golden Triangle Observation Point in Chiang Saen district. Head of the social Development office of Chiang Rai, Anira Thinon said the campaign was aimed to raise awareness on the scale of the human trafficking in border area and the seriousness of the crime which could lead to child abuse, illegal labor, sex trafficking and other human rights violations. The campaign also reflected close cross-border cooperation between Thailand’s and Lao’s authorities and civil societies. Students and people of Chiang Saen also rode their bicycles to spread their messages against human trafficking to residents. (TNA)
