Anti-monarchy, and anti-Thai government movements not allowed overseas

BANGKOK, December 18 (TNA) - Allied countries have promised not to tolerate anti-monarchy and anti-Thai government movements on their territories. Thai Foreign Ministry Spokesman Sek Wannamethee told journalists on Thursday that the stance came from Cambodia, Laos and many western countries. Regarding the prime minister's order for concerned authorities to coordinate actions against people offending Thailand's royal institution with allied countries, Sek, who is also Director-General of the ministry's Department of Information, said his ministry has forwarded the message to Thai embassies in foreign countries and foreign embassies in Thailand. In response to reports on interviews from Thai nationals making political movements overseas, the spokesman acknowledged, his ministry has checked and has not found such persons in those countries. According to the spokesman, apparently, the people gave interviews through social media. The spokesman noted that many countries, especially western ones, consider Thailand as an old friend with mutual interest and they look at long-term relations and not let anyone use them as a base to make such the political movements to affect a partner country although they adhere to democratic values and human rights. The spokesman stated, however, that Thailand is undergoing comprehensive reform and people living in other countries are welcome to send their opinions to the National Reform Council (NRC), through Thai embassies in their respective countries.
