Anti-Narcotic Agency To Have New Chief

JAKARTA, March 1 (Antara) - President Joko Widodo is scheduled to install Insp Gen Heru Winarko as the new chief of National Anti-Narcotic Agency (BNN) here on Thursday morning. Winarko who is currently Corruption Eradication Commission's (KPK) law enforcement deputy will replace current BNN chief Com Gen Budi Waseso who enters retirement in March. President Joko Widodo will inaugurate Winarko, who graduated from Police Academy in 1985 at 9am at the State Palace. Winarko was among several candidates spreading so far including Com Gen Ari Dono Sukmanto, chief of Indonesia Police's Crime Investigation Department, Insp Gen Muhammad Iriawan, operations assistant to the police's chief and Insp Gen Arman Depari, current BNN's law enforcement deputy. Winarko, who was born on Decembet 1, 1962, had been in several strategic posts including an expert staff at the office of then coordinating minister for political, security and legal affairs Luhut Panjaitan and Lampung's regional police chief. While at KPK he is in charge of formulating policies for investigation and enforcement.
