Anwar Sodomy II Appeal: Federal Court Resumes Proceedings

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 10 (Bernama) -- The Federal Court resumed proceedings on the Anwar Ibrahim sodomy case at 1.08 pm Tuesday. The proceedings resumed with Anwar's lawyer Gopal Sri Ram, who leads a 15-member defence team, making submissions after the court had dismissed Anwar's appeal against a Court of Appeal conviction and five-year jail sentence for having sodomised a former aide. Anwar, 67, lost his final appeal against his conviction for having sodomised Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan on June 26, 2008. The judgment Tuesday was delivered by Chief Justice Arifin Zakaria who led a five-man bench. -- BERNAMA
