Applications for Thailand's NRC members opened until Sept 2

BANGKOK, August 23 (TNA) - Applications for candidates to be finally selected to a total of 250 members of Thailand's National Reform Council (NRC) will be continued until September 2, 2014. Additional 20 candidates submitted their applications at the Election Commission of Thailand (EC) headquarters on the outskirts of Bangkok on Saturday morning. EC officials told reporters that 1,837 candidates have submitted their applications to the EC headquarters since the applications were first opened 10 days ago. The EC has projected, meanwhile, that more than 3,000 candidates should apply by the dateline on September 2, after that the EC will forward all the candidacy names to 11 committee groups so that they will consider and nominate qualified persons. Afterwards, the army-led National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) will finally choose a maximum of 250 qualified persons to be NRC members and their names will be sent for His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej's endorsement in a Royal Command. The entire procedure is expected to be completed within 50 days or by late September 2014. (TNA)
