Arab League Hails Qatar's Progress in the Respect for Intellectual Property

Cairo, May 26 (QNA) - The Arab League has praised Qatar's great progress in the field of the respect for intellectual property rights. In statements to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Director of the Intellectual Property and Competitiveness Department at the Arab League Dr. Maha Al Bakheet noted that there are different levels in the field of intellectual property, there are countries that have made significant progress, such as Qatar, Algeria, Tunisia and the Gulf states, while there are other countries that are still at the average level. She emphasized that the State of Qatar has been making strong progress under the intellectual property system in terms of legislation, infrastructure, training of cadres and spreading awareness. "Qatar is a developed country and we consider it in an advanced position. The officials in Qatar are making valuable efforts in this regard, and consistently participate in all events held by the Arab League whether formal events, workshops or others," Dr. Al Bakheet told QNA on the the sidelines of a workshop on the promotion of respect for intellectual property rights held today at the headquarters of the the Arab League General Secretariat, in cooperation with the World Intellectual Property Organization. She stressed on the need to spread the culture of respect for intellectual property and to find the best ways to protect the rights, and to benefit from international experiences in this field.
