ARC-WH President condemns attack on Taiz museum

Manama, Feb. 7 (BNA): President of the Arab Regional Centre for World Heritage (ARC-WH) Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa condemned the attack on Taiz National Museum, in Yemen, which contains rare artefacts, manuscripts and traditional costumes that keep a record of an important historical era of Yemen. Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) said in a press statement that Shaikha Mai's condemnation reflects keenness on human heritage in the Arab world which represents the first defence line of the civilisational image of Arab countries. It described the attack as "a crime against culture and mankind", reiterating solidarity with Yemen and pointing out that targeting museums is part of attempts to efface human memory of the Arab peoples. Shaikha Mai called on the international community to exert efforts to confront the terror acts targeting the Arab cultural and civilisational heritage.
