ARC'14 Calls on Local Research Expertise to Attend Annual Event Addressing Qatar's Grand Challenges

Doha, Qatar: 21 October 2014: Qatar Foundation's Annual Research Conference (ARC14) is calling on the local science and research community to help address Qatar's Grand Challenges by participating at the milestone event next month. With less than a month before the conference organisers are looking forward to many local experts joining international peers for the two-day event. The conference, will bring together expertise from Qatar and Qatar Foundation's Research and Development (QF R&D) key entities, in addition to international subject matter experts, to address the country's cyber security, solar and renewable energy solutions, integrated healthcare and social grand challenges. ARC'14 is hoping delegates will generate compelling solutions and technologies for the greater good of Qatar, and ultimately for the region and wider world. As one of Qatar Foundations main pillars, QF R&D has been active in promoting the organisations vision of cultivating life-long learning and interest in science and research in Qatar. The annual research conference is regarded as the premier scientific research conference in Qatar, hosted by QF R&D. Dr Nabeel Al Salem, Executive Director of Outreach and Communications at Qatar Foundation Research and Development (QF R&D), said: "It is critical that we engage and energise our Qatar-based expertise to play an active role in ARC'14. "The upcoming event will also provide an excellent platform for peer-to-peer interaction. With less than one month to go, we are calling on our community, institutes, centres and universities, to participate in this important conference to propel the country towards a diversified economy and the realisation of the Qatar National Vision 2030. "We are confident that as expertise from around the world joins forces with local research and scientific peers, we can make genuine advances to activate multi-disciplinary knowledge sharing and collaboration. Qatar must invest its people, time and knowledge for social and economic development. Therefore, we hope to build on last year's success by seeing even further numbers of people attend and participate in Novembers annual research and innovation event." Hosted at QF's Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC), this years conference follows on the success of ARC'13, which was attended by more than 2,000 delegates and where many of Qatar's research grand challenges were unveiled. ARC'14 will offer thought-provoking panel discussions, technical presentations, and high-powered debates where leading experts will share constructive experiences and innovative approaches 'Towards World-Class Research and Innovation.' Abstract submissions will also be chosen on their merit and presented by leading local scientists on how to help address, lead and guide Qatars research agenda. (QNA)
