Armenian armed forces violate ceasefire during OSCE monitoring

Baku, October 27, AZERTAC In accordance with the mandate of the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, the OSCE mission has today conducted a monitoring on the troops` line of contact near Azerbaijan`s Tartar region. According to Azerbaijan`s Defense Ministry, the monitoring was held on the Azerbaijani side, by field assistants of the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Evgeny Sharov and Peter Svedberg. On the opposite side, the monitoring was conducted by field assistants of the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Jiri Aberle and Hristo Hristov. During the monitoring Armenian armed forces violated ceasefire. According to the prior reached agreement, the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs Igor Popov from Russia, James Warlick from the US, Pierre Andre from France and Personal Representative of the Chairperson-in-Office Andrzej Kasprzyk crossed from the opposite side to a section of the line of contact controlled by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces. The co-chairs, then, met with local commanders and executive authority representatives, and held a briefing in the field. Despite the ceasefire agreement, the Armenians fired positions of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces by automatic weapons for several times. Shooting was suspended after the immediate interference of the co-chairs.
