Army:Ill- intentioned people try to create untoward incidents

BANGKOK, February 20 (TNA) - Thai Army Chief General Prayuth Chan-ocha has warned that some people with ill intentions have tried to create untoward incidents and the military is monitoring updates closely to contain the situation and military commanders are trying to convince parties to refrain from violent movements. Army Deputy Spokesman Colonel Winthai Suwaree told journalists on Thursday that General Prayuth is sad about casualties of police and civilians in attempts by police to disperse anti-government protesters at Phan Fa Bridge in Bangkok on February 18. Colonel Winthai said General Prayuth understands that government officers had to perform their duties and demonstrators were exercising their right, but he wants all parties to assess violent impacts of their actions. According to the spokesman, the army commander-in-chief is worried over the future situation and he has, thus, ordered army officers on duties at all locations to review and improve their security measures for the sake of safety for people and themselves. Besides, the army chief urged all parties to understand reasons and necessity of the operations of government officers.(TNA)
