SAMUT SAKHON, Aug 11 (TNA) - The Department of Intellectual Property has registered aromatic coconuts widely grown in Samut Sakhon’s Ban Phaeo district as the province’s geographical indication (GI) product.

The popular coconut among consumers in Thailand has outstanding features of sticky and soft coconut meat while the juice has strong aroma, similar to pandan leaves. The GI application was submitted on July 26.

The coastal province of Samut Sakhon has fresh, sea and brackish water, so farm products, grown there have unique taste.

Aromatic (Nam Hom) coconut trees are mostly grown in three districts of Samut Sakhon province - Muang, Krathum Baen and Baan Phaeo districts. (TNA)
