Arrangements in good place to welcome Suu Kyi

SAMUT SAKHON, THAILAND, June 21 (TNA) - A community of Myanmar migrant workers and a temporary shelter for refugees are ready to welcome Myanmar State Consellor and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Aung San Suu Kyi, who is scheduled to officially visit Thailand during June 23-25. Manrat Rattanasukhon, Governor of Bangkok's neighbouring Samut Sakhon Province told journalists on June 20 that a meeting of provincial parties concerned has been called to discuss arrangements to welcome Suu Kyi and he has instructed all the concerned parties to carry out the tasks. The governor stressed that the most important arrangements are security for Suu Kyi and her entourage and a venue with security and enough space for Myanmar migrant workers to welcome the Myanmar leaders, who are scheduled to visit the Myanmar migrant workers at the Talay Thai Market in Muang District on Thursday evening, after they arrive in Thailand. In Ratchaburi Province in the central region, Deputy Governor Sakchai Tang-ho said, meanwhile, that he would also call a meeting with concerned parties on Tuesday afternoon to discuss preparations for Suu Kyi's visit to the Baan Tham Hin Temporary Shelter in Suan Pheung District on June 25, where nearly 6,500 Myanmar refugees stay, and to a school and an organic farming project, funded by the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in its compound.
