BANGKOK, July 12 (TNA) – The figures show the arrest of FIFA World Cup football gambling has tripled, compared to that in the previous World Cup tournament, said a senior police.

Deputy national police chief Chalermkiat Srivorakhan said the FIFA World Cup has not ended yet but so far, the police have nabbed 14,000 wrongdoers, including 543 bookies and seized 45 million baht in total.

About 200 gambling websites were proposed to be shut down.

This year’s crackdown revealed that the arrests of wrongdoers has tripled from the last event four years ago because gamblers can access to gambling information via smart phones and websites, he said. (TNA)
