Art Bureau to translate war memoirs into English, Spanish

TEHRAN,Jan.20(MNA) -- “Nureddin, Son of Iran”, the memoirs of an Iranian war veteran, and “A Foot That Was Left Behind”, the memoirs of an Iranian prisoner of war, are being translated into English and Spanish at the Art Bureau. “The bureau aims to introduce the culture of the Sacred Defense (1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war) to other nations through such books,” the Art Bureau said in a press release on Saturday. No names were mentioned for the translators of the book. “Nureddin, Son of Iran” covers the memoires of Seyyed Nureddin Aafi, who voluntarily joins the Iranian forces when he is at the age of 16. Nureddin is seriously injured during a military operation. He receives treatment at a hospital, but before the injuries heal, he returns and stays in the front lines until the end of the war. “A Foot That Was Left Behind” is a diary of Seyyed Nasser Hosseinipur during his 880 days of captivity in Iraq. He is captured by the Iraqi soldiers after he is injured in his leg during a military operation when he is only 16. His leg is cut off after he is transferred into Iraq. Both books have been published by Sureh-Mehr, a publisher affiliated with the Art Bureau, which is an associate of the Islamic Ideology Dissemination Organization. Sureh-Mehr’s “Da”, memoires of Seyyedeh Zahra Hosseini about seizure of Khorramshahr by the Iraqi forces in the early days the war, has previously been rendered into English by American translator Paul Sprachman. He has also translated Ahmad Dehqan’s “Bearing 270 Degrees” and Habib Ahmadzadeh’s “Chess with the Resurrection Machine”, two novels in the Sacred Defense genre.
