Artificial ethnic conflict tactics may be used against BRICS states - Patrushev

MOSCOW, May 26. /TASS/. The BRICS group member states - Russia, India, China, Brazil and South Africa are exposed to a particular risk as the tactics of artificial aggravation of ethnic contradictions may be intentionally used against them, Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev said on Tuesday at an annual meeting of BRICS security officials. "Taking into account the huge resources and development prospects of our countries there are reasons to suppose today that the BRICS members are exposed to a particular risk… The trends of recent years have shown that the methods to contain our countries will be first of all not military, but informational influence, aimed at artificial aggravation of ethnic, religious and cultural contradictions," he said. Patrushev added that the West has been more frequently using international financial institutions as a tool to influence BRICS. Thus, over the past 10 years, the aggregate capital outflow from the BRICS group economies has reached at least $3.5 trillion. The Russian Security Council chief said in this connection that the step aimed at the creation of the New Development Bank of BRICS is very important. Read more
