Artificial rain-making for five NE provinces

BANGKOK, March 23 (TNA) - The Department of Royal Rainmaking and Agricultural Aviation has set up a rain-making operation center at Burirum Airport to help ease the drought in the lower part of the northeastern region. Two planes will be stationed at the airport and they will conduct two flights daily in the artificial rain-making mission to increase water in reservoirs and natural water sources in the five northeastern provinces, including Nakhon Ratchasima, Surin, Si Sa Ket, Chaiyaphum and Buri Ram. An officer of Buri Ram Agriculture and Cooperatives said he believed the operations would successfully alleviate water shortage for local people and farmers in the drought-stricken areas. The operations will be held continuously until the rainy season starts. (TNA)
