Artificial rain-making operations successfully reduce haze

BANGKOK, March 25 (TNA) - The Department of Royal Rainmaking and Agricultural Aviation had successfully coordinated with two royal rainmaking operation centres to help relieve haze problem in the Thai north. The department's Director-general Surasri Kittimonthon said two aircrafts from two rainmaking operation centres in Phisanulok and Chiang Mai were used to create artificial rains in Phrae, Nan, Lamphun and Lampang. He said yesterday’s artificial rain operations were successful in the targeted area and successfully helped ease haze problems in nine northern provinces. The weather quality today in the northern region is moderate, as the level of small particulate matter has lessened from yesterday’s level, which posed heath threat to locals. Nonetheless, various areas in Chiang Rai and Mae Hong Son provinces are still facing severe haze with the small dust particles, exceeding the safety standard. The department will carry on further operations to alleviate the haze problem in those areas. (TNA)
