Artists in Residence Exhibition to Kick Off Friday

Doha, May 30 (QNA) - Preparations are well underway for the opening of the Artists in Residence exhibition. The exhibition, which will run from 3 June to the end of November 2016, will celebrate the accomplishments of the current artists in residence and showcase selected works from the artists from their nine months in residency, incorporating a variety of processes, research, prototypes, and finished outcomes. The exhibition will be on show at the Garage Gallery in the Fire Station. The Fire Station: Artists in Residence programme began in September 2015 and invites artists from different disciplines on a nine-month residency programme. During the residency, each artist was given weekly mentoring and access to Qatar Museums' special exhibitions, lectures, properties and curators. Theres currently 18 artists in residence at the Fire Station, ten of which are Qatari. The initiative forms part of Qatar Museums focus of nurturing emerging talent and inspiring an indigenous culture of creativity and innovation. (QNA)
