ASEAN agenda to be raised at G20 summit

BANGKOK, June 25 (TNA) - Results of this year's ASEAN Summit, the 34th of its kind, will be presented at the next Group of 20 (G20) Summit, set to be held in Japan later this week. Speaking to journalists at Bangkok's Government House on Tuesday, Caretaker Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai said that the outcome agreed by leaders of member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) at the 34th ASEAN Summit, held in the capital recently, will be raised at the upcoming G20 Summit, scheduled to be held in Osaka during June 28-29. "The outcome of this year's ASEAN Summit will be raised at the upcoming G20 Summit in Osaka so that leaders of the world's 20 most advanced economies will understand the roles of the ASEAN Community", Don acknowledged. The caretaker foreign minister stated that results of the 34th ASEAN Summit will also be discussed at the 35th ASEAN Summit, to be again hosted by Thailand in November 2019. The caretaker foreign minister mentioned, meanwhile, that regional leaders have expressed their appreciation to Thailand's host of the smooth 34th ASEAN Summit and related forums in Bangkok. Playing the role of the ASEAN chairmanship in 2019, Thailand hosted this year's ASEAN Summit and related forums at The Athenee Hotel in the city during June 20-23. (TNA)
